We departed Swansea, Wales continuing our trail towards Ireland. With a few traffic delays and some construction we were sweating our check-in time for the ferry. We made it just in time and were set to cross the Irish Sea in about 2 hours. Once onboard we celebrated Father's day with the girls giving their homemade cards and gifts to Daddy. It rocked. While on the transit to Ireland the ferry was chased by dolphins. They followed the ferry for a brief stretch of our journey and were amazing to watch while they wake surfed. Once we arrived in Ireland we headed down the southeast coast towards Cork. After about an hour of driving Emilie commented that Ireland is so green and that she has never seen a place so green. So I guess it lives up to it's nickname. We arrived in Youghal around 4:30 and stopped in for some gas. While at the gas station the attendant spoke in some foreign language, sure it was English but you couldn't prove it. Ed was completely confused but thankfully the transaction proceeded without delay. Our hotel is situated along the Red Barn shoreline in Youghal. We donned our swim suits and Ed, Em, and Tori went for a swim in the Atlantic. The water was surprisingly warm (for Atlantic standards) and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. On the hotel lawn we saw a couple of boys playing a strange game with a ball and flat paddle/bat looking thing. When asked what they were playing they mentioned that it was hurling. Hurling is an Irish sport that is a cross between soccer, lacrosse, and hockey. It was pretty cool to see. Following the swim the kids went to the pool for another dip and then we were off to dinner. After that the girls got to go to "movie night" at the hotel. So it's sleep for now and tomorrow we head to Killarney. This time we stop for a couple of days.
